General Enrollment Period

General Enrollment Period (GEP)

The General Enrollment Period occurs annually between January 1 – March 31.

The GEP allows individuals that missed their initial enrollment period to apply for Medicare Parts A and B.  Individuals that either missed their enrollment when turning 65 or missed a Special Enrollment Period are eligible to apply.

It is important to understand that applying during the GEP is not an ideal time to sign up for Medicare. Having missed your initial enrollment opportunity, you could face late enrollment penalties and gaps in coverage.

Worried that you'll miss your IEP? We can remind you.
